And these have us in them too!

I sure hope this is his foster mother showing him the photo album we sent him. Hope, hope, hope....

Soon, kiddo. Real, REAL soon.

Agency just got it to me via email - look!

I'm hoping beyond hope that's his foster father. I'll have a picture of him.

They're outside a shoe store, and the clothes look new. Could it be they're getting him new shoes for his journey?

Crap, now I AM crying.

We have our gotcha date - we will be picking up Xander in Tainan at St. Lucy's on March 16th, at 10:00 AM.

*vibrates in place*

Likely, we will be traveling near the 13th of March - depending on how the flights work, we could be there a bit earlier to make the financials work better.

But it's definite. We *will* be going to Taiwan, we *will* be bringing Xander home, and it *will* be in March.

Now, the fun begins.

At last. At long, long last - for all of us.

We have all the paperwork in - everything that came back for corrections from the 'final' submission the first week of July.

The agency has to sign off on it - send it out for translation and verification, but as of the first - we are done with what we can do.

Now, we wait for the signposts along the way to final decree.

Now...we need to seriously get down to the business of getting ready to be parents. Like - removing all the breakables, and re-childproofing everything. And fixing that what needs fixing. ^^

Well, not so new - one that was taken with the last batch, but not received until now.

Yup, I definitely have a Boy boy - swords and all. Boy in motion - I can see kenpo training in his future, possibly?

Climbing ALL OVER monkey bars and other playground equipment, for sure!

Agency received more pictures of Xanxan in an update they got last week, and forwarded them to me. (Isn't living in the electronic age great?)

These can't be more than a month old. And since I'd expressed a desire to get anything current on him, it looks like they were happy to oblige me. Another bit of information I got with these pictures is that he's currently 33" tall and 22 lbs, and his foster father is a policeman he loves to mimic.

Since he's been in the same home since birth, there are pictures of him from very wee.

He's also been available for adoption domestically since he was born as well - the fact he is nearly three now makes finding him a family more urgent, hence being made available for an international placement with us.

I'd estimate this one at about 9 months (I'll find out for sure when we go to bring him home):

These are taken a bit later, about a year of age or so:

This, perhaps at two years:

These are the pictures we were provided at referral, we believe they were taken last fall:

We received an update at the time we signed the baby contracts - our personal favorite to date:

Since this is going to be used as the first point of information regarding Xander - and often, the first place people are going to be sent when we tell them we've accepted a referral from Taiwan for an adorable little boy, let me put some quick and dirty statistics here to start with.

We began our adoption journey with Heartsent Adoptions (you can check out their site from the link list to the side) January 21, 2006 when we attended a certification class at their Pasadena office.  On February 3, 2006, we had our first meeting with them to discuss adopting two children (one from China, one from Taiwan) and opened our case to begin our home study.

We would complete it, and send a dossier to China for a referral for a girl - that wait is still underway.  (We are LID 02/27/07 - currently, LID processing is somewhere around the middle of January 2006, and only advancing about five days a month.  We have a long wait yet to do for our daughter!)

April 22, 2007, our agency contacted us and asked us if we would be willing to consider a special needs adoption of an older child from Taiwan.

We accepted.

Named Yang, I at birth, according to the documents we have from his foster family, he is currently called "Yang Yang" - think yanyan - we intend not to change his name, but morph it.  His legal name, once readoption paperwork is completed here in California about six months or so after we bring him home, will be Alexander-Paul Yang Yi DeSilva Bell.

Mom and Dad will call him Xanxan, growing it up as he grows into Xander.  We figure he will have a terrific barometer of knowing *just* how much trouble he's in by how many names get used calling him.

We've already found our daycare, and are preparing to be gone from work once it's time for us to travel to Taiwan to bring him home - if you'd like more information on the agency Xanxan is being referred to us from, check the St. Lucy's link on the side as well.

Xanxan currently is in the same foster home he has been in since he was born in Pingtung Township - you can Google Earth map it if you like, it's in the southern part of Taiwain, near Tainan where St. Lucy's is.

He was born August 16, 2005, in Pingtung as well.

We hope to have our dossier to the agency for translation and certification next week - from there, the agency advises that they allow a month for the translators to finish their work before the dossier is presented to the court system in Taiwan, and then there is a four to seven month wait for their processes to complete.  The earliest the window will open will be in October, most likely travel will happen between November and the first of 2009.

That's enough for now - let's get this up, and post some pictures!
